A library of workflows, by people who automate for fun.

wflows is the community hub for wflow, a Wayland desktop automation engine. Authors publish KDL workflow files here. Anyone can read the source, copy the chord, install with one click, and remix with credit. No subscriptions, no email walls, no AI sludge.

The library and the engine

wflow is the open-source desktop app that runs workflows on Wayland: hotkeys, hotstrings, on-demand actions stitched together with a small declarative language called KDL. You write a workflow once, save it as a .kdl file, and trigger it however you bound it.

wflows (this site) is where authors share those files. Browse, click Open in wflow on any workflow card, and the file lands in your local engine, ready to run. Edit it, remix it, share your version.

How publishing works

  1. Sign in with GitHub, Discord, or a magic link. Pick a handle. That handle is the URL of your public profile and the namespace for every workflow you ship.
  2. Paste your KDL on the publish page. Add a one-line description (shows on the card), an optional readme (shows on the detail page, supports markdown), and a few tags for discovery. The title and step list come straight from the KDL itself.
  3. Ship it. The slug is auto-generated from your workflow's title. We parse and validate the KDL — bad syntax or unknown action kinds get caught before the workflow goes live.

Three norms

  1. Credit makers. If you remix, link the original author. Authorship is load-bearing here — bylines and step trails stay attached to the source.
  2. Show the work. Paste the KDL, not just a screenshot. Treat the source like editorial illustration. The point of the library is that other people can read what you built and learn from it.
  3. Be kind. The community is small and friendly. The Discord is for KDL craft, automation ideas, and engine feedback — not drama.

Who runs this

wflows is built and maintained by @cush in the open. The site source code lives at github.com/cushycush/wflows.com. The engine source is at github.com/cushycush/wflow. Bug reports, feature requests, and pull requests welcome on either repo.

One-time $29 founding supporters (and $19 supporters after the first 100) keep the lights on (hosting, domain renewal, the occasional weekend bug hunt). Founding 100 supporters get a permanent mark on their profile and a private Discord channel.

Talk to us

Most conversation happens on our Discord server. Questions about KDL, ideas for new actions, or general "how do I express X" — that's the channel for it.

For everything else (security issues, partnership questions, press), email hello@wflows.io.
